Clark Baker Music is located at 534 Main St. in historic downtown El Centro. Records indicate a music store has been located in this building since 1923. The first started by long time valleyite Nick Novak. Following later was a partnership between Novak and Stan Adkins named "Novak & Adkins". In 1964 it was purchased by Harold Hoffman from Cincinnati, Ohio, who operated it as Hoffman Music Co. and in 1983 again changing hands to long time employee Clark Baker, with partner Roy Spaulding a local band director. Clark Baker Music has a solid history in the Imperial Valley, servicing the needs of local musicians, schools, educators, and churches. CBM is what is known in the industry as a "full line" music store, meaning it carries "Everything Musical", band instruments, sheet music, guitars, amplifiers, P.A. systems, drum sets, microphones, CDs, posters, orchestra intruments, and more. CBM also repairs instruments, installs sound and lighting systems, and gives music lessons. Clark Baker Music is the only source in Imperial Valley for all the major "brand names" in the music industry including Fender, Peavey, Yamaha, Roland, Orange, Kustom, Silvertone, Shure, and more.
Clark Baker Music is a member of the MFE (Music For Everyone) buyers group- enabling CBM to obtain better pricing which is passed directly to the customer. Clark Baker Music is also a Guitar Center/Music & Arts affiliate, linking us to the largest provider of musical instruments in the United States.
